Pope Benny calls Dylan a false prophet. I hate Pope Benny. He's an ultra conservative in-a world-of-Conservatives Catholic. At least Pope John Paul met with all kinds of people . . Jews, Muslims, Hindus. He didn't proselytze (sp?) He was kind of a Live and Let Live Pope (especially fetuses--rofl)--not like this boy Benny. Blech. Aint no one gonna diss Bob to me! He doesn't make himself out as anything other than a singer-poet-songwriter . . what others think of him doesn't concern him. A good example to follow.

Hey....this will be pretty funny. Can one of you go ahead and post specifically WHAT benni did to "try to stop the pope from hearing bob dylan"?
I read a bit about this yesterday and noticed some very odd things. For instance UPI was carrying a story dated yesterday which purported to be breaking news of what the current Pope did in 1997. Must have been a real slow developing story.
Oh and incidentally..their source....It was Pope Benni. Can you imagine?? A guy whose entire job it is to tell the truth actually told the truth. It boggles the protestant mind.
And finally....I noticed about 10% of the news services backed away from the "tried to stop the pope" line ..I assume thats because if you actually read the story you will find no substantiation at all that Benni actually DID anything other than to believe that Bob Dylan is not the Pope. And even if he did....Is anyone here actually looking to Bob for spiritual guidance in their life?
Incidentally PBS did a fabulous miniseries documentary on Dylan called No Direction Home I believe. Incredible show.

When Sparky aka Vanda posted the Pope-Dylan comment on the main page, I saw the entire story on the AOL main page, but it's no longer there so I can't post the link. If you Google Pope, Dylan I'm sure the story will come up.
PS: I think No Direction Home may be on DVD now. I must buy it.
