I finished Harry Potter tonight. What a wonderful ending to a fantastic series. The book is very dark. Lots of battles. Lots of killings. Lots going on. I was fascinated to read some of the back stories of a few of my favorite characters. Rowling did a good job tying things up.
Now I can read Clanky’s blog. I didn’t read it while in the midst of Dementors, Death eaters, Aurors and Potters because I was afraid she’d blab something about it. Haha.
You know who I despised more than You-Know Who? That motherfucking Delores Umbridge. What a ratty old Nazi bitch she was!
The Book Seven movie will be quite interesting to pull off. Wonder what director will get that plum.

I found it extreeeeemely dull when they were all pratting about the forest for months and months.
...and I thought there were a lot of uneccessaey deaths. They seemed to be thrown in just for good measure.
I am having trouble getting into this last book , and I went to see the OOTP at the cinema on wendnesday why the fuck did they have to film it in the dark , could they not afford to light the set. I hate films that are filmed in twilight it just sends me to sleep
Proclamation:
Any further anti-Potter remarks and the commentator will be sent to spend an afternoon with Delores Umbridge
Hey anonymous, who had better not be Raga--
the dar, filming at twilight thing was prevalent in that stupid Lord of the Rings movie trilogy which was boring as hell BTW, and those movies got academy award nominations.
LOTR was not boring! OOTP was filmed in twilight to show the end of the good days is my guess--heavy handed.
What you aren't going to let us list our favorite images from the book?
I believe LOTR is the only book I have ever given up on. The films were probably v clever. And exceedingly dull. In my humble opinion.
i also hate it when they don't turn the lights on when filming, i like to be able to see what they're filming after paying $12 for a ticket to see it. Another thing i hate is when they don't hold the camera still. Saving private ryan made me ill. i know it's to make it "realistic" but i i wanted that, i'd go to a real war zone.
jilly
I loved this book. I didn't think the killings were unnecessary. I think they were actually necessary to keep the book from being too formulaic and light.
Dolores Umbridge is pure fucking evil.
Dolores Umbridge proved that Hannah Arendt lie about the banality of evil.
What was the theme that made us all love this series?
Here's my take:
"We just want our children to live happier lives than ours!"
I don't know if that's an exact quote, but the expression of meaning is accurate. It comes from the lips of Remus Lupin.
First, there are people for whom this sentiment means nothing.
Secondly, there are people who make this statement but do not consider the lives of other people, and the children of those other people, worthy of consideration as they seek to bring about the conditions they believe will provide happier lives for their own children.
Finely there's the group most of us want to believe we're part and parcel of: those who want the lives of their children to be happier than their own, but not at the cost of the happiness of the lives of the children of others.
J.K. gave us her views.
What if you figure the best your kids can do is be as happy as you are? And that being just a little less happy is still a pretty good deal?
